Did you know, we host over 400 events each year at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre? With 250 acres of bookable outdoor grounds and indoor events space, the GYEC can be transformed to suit any occasion, whether that be a gala dinner, team building day, conference, or trade show. Whether you book a team building day on The Grounds, meeting space at the Pavilions of Harrogate or are lucky enough to attend a gala ball held at The Halls, profits from each event go to supporting the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s charitable work.
For instance, last year 1,700 guests enjoyed an incredible evening at the Asda Tickled Pink Gala Ball held at The Halls. The most recent fundraiser saw a phenomenal £1.4 million raised for Asda’s chosen charities GroceryAid, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! Profits raised from that same Gala Ball and all of the commercial businesses that host events with us means we’re able to put on events such as our incredibly popular Countryside Days.
This two-day annual event is aimed at inspiring the next generation about all things farming, food and the countryside. Entirely free for school groups, this year we welcomed over 4,000 primary school children from across Yorkshire, offering hands-on activities, entertainment and educational demonstrations, all hosted at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Profits from our commercial events also go back into the education system through free courses for nursery, primary and secondary school staff, organised and funded by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. This year our free courses have ranged from those supporting teachers with ‘Starting a School Vegetable Garden’ through to ‘Supporting Autism and Neurodiversity’.
