Northern Farmer Awards

In February the Pavilions of Harrogate was the backdrop for The Northern Farmer Awards 2025. These awards recognise the dedication, innovation, and resilience of the agricultural community.

Taking place at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre since 2018, the ceremony saw 335 members of the region’s farming community come together for an evening celebrating outstanding individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to farming and exemplify excellence in the industry.

On arrival guests enjoyed a glass of prosecco before moving through to the Wharfe Room for a glittering awards ceremony, hosted by award-winning TV presenter and journalist Christine Talbot. Accolades were presented in ten categories, before a special lifetime achievement award was handed to Charles Mills, former director of the Great Yorkshire Show.

Guests were treated to a delicious three-course meal, prepared by award-winning chef Ian King and his team at Kings Catering. Kings Catering have been the caterers at the Pavilions of Harrogate for over 25 years and pride themselves on producing amazing food whilst using the best local suppliers wherever possible. This keeps food miles to a minimum and shows their ongoing commitment to sustainability. For example, the roast beef which was served at the awards was sourced just down the road from a farm near Leeds.

As part of the commercial arm of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a registered charity which is proudly at the heart of Yorkshire’s farming, food, and countryside, all profits from these awards and events held at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre help support the charitable activities of the society. These activities range from funding farmer health checks and providing grants and bursaries, to putting on educational events such as the popular Countryside Days, which welcomes thousands of children from across the region each year.
