This June saw the Pavilions of Harrogate hosting the Greens2Blue Midsummer Charity Ball, raising a staggering £110,000 for local charities, Maggie’s and Friends of Alfie Martin.

With local duo Richard Larking and David Knaggs set to taking on the World’s Toughest Row, a 3000-mile challenge to row across the Atlantic this December, raising further funds for the charities, the pair made for the perfect hosts for the ball.

The very boat the duo will row from the La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean, was set up outside the Aire Room for guests to admire and, with the summer sun shining, the 340 invited guests were able to step outside to enjoy their welcome drinks around the boat, while taking in the hundreds of acres of second-to-none views of the Yorkshire countryside.

Moving from the Aire Room through corridors decorated to share the route the boat will take across the Atlantic, guests moved into the beautifully decorated and themed Wharfe Room.

With the event filmed and live streamed to screens around the room by local AV specialists True Sounds, guests heard from the two amazing charities who shared the important work the Greens2Blue Midsummer Charity Ball would help fund. Guests were then treated to a bespoke three-course summer menu by award-winning on-site caterers, Kings Catering.

The fun-filled evening, compered by David Parkin, saw guests rise to the challenge with an auction led by local businessman Richard Smailes, followed by live music from local band The Directors who got everyone up dancing the night away.
