Our Story

Our Charity – The Yorkshire Agricultural Society

The Great Yorkshire Events Centre, alongside Pavilions of Harrogate, Fodder – Great Yorkshire Food Hall and Harrogate Caravan Park are a family of commercial businesses located on the Great Yorkshire Showground and owned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. The Society is a registered charity. All profits go to fund the charitable work of the Society, helping to develop an environment where farming, food and the countryside thrives and grows.

By booking an event with us, you will be supporting a charity with a variety of programmes that promote farming and the countryside, such as:

Educating young minds: Teaching school children and train teachers across Yorkshire about farming, food, and the countryside.

Future Farmers of Yorkshire: Connecting farmers, vets, and industry supporters, fostering professional growth and networking opportunities.

Skills and knowledge development: Through scholarships, training, and bursaries, we help the farming community enhance their expertise.

Yorkshire Rural Support Network: We offer practical, financial, medical, and emotional support to farmers, including free health checks.

Farmer Scientist Network: Bridging the gap between research and practice, this initiative links scientific advancements with on-farm innovation for crop and livestock management.

Yorkshire Food, Farming & Rural Network: This group represents local voices, feeding back regional issues and concerns directly to the Government.

Grants for agriculture: We provide funding to support research, promote understanding, and champion the needs of farming, rural businesses, and communities, helping them thrive sustainably.

Women in Farming Network: Connecting and inspiring rural women through shared experiences and support.

Our Commercial Businesses

The Great Yorkshire Showground is home to The Great Yorkshire Events Centre.

The Great Yorkshire Events Centre comprises 2 large Halls and 250 acres of grounds and offers unparalleled versatility for large-scale events corporate and public events. We specialise in hosting events with first-class service, everything from large-scale conferences, team-building events, gala dinners, trade shows and exhibitions.

Pavilions of Harrogate is the sister venue of the Great Yorkshire Events Centre hosting a wide range of events for up to 450 guests.

With 14 flexible event spaces, Pavilions of Harrogate is the perfect venue for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, weddings and celebrations and dinners.

Fodder was established opened in 2009 to support farmers, not only by showcasing their fantastic produce through the shop and café, but by putting the profits straight back into the charity and consequently back into the farming community.

Every joint of meat, cup of coffee or loaf of bread purchased in Fodder helps support the agricultural industry; from free educational trips for 6000 children at Countryside Days to health checks for farmers and so much more.

Harrogate Caravan Park is a unique site located on the Great Yorkshire Showground overlooking the beautiful Crimple Valley.

With an AA Four Pennant Caravan & Camping grading, this stunning campsite is the perfect base for exploring Harrogate, York and Leeds, the surrounding countryside and Yorkshire Dales beyond.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society was established to promote agriculture in Yorkshire and our first objective was to run a major agricultural event .

The 14th – 17th July 2026 will see the 167th Great Yorkshire Show take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground where 140,000 visitors alongside 8,500 livestock across 21 sections celebrate the best of food, farming and the countryside. Alongside the commercial businesses listed above, all profits raised from the Show fund the charitable work of the Society.
